Mount SD card from external USB cards reader

To list all the disk like devices attached to the Pi
sudo fdisk -l

External USB disks are normally listed as sda1 and sda2. With the Pi the sda1 contains the 56mb disk that can be seen when you stick the SD card in a windows PC. SDA is the Pi disk that it uses when the pi is running. It contains the operating system

To access the Pi OS
sudo mount /dev/sda2 /mnt

Then change in to the /mnt directory
cd /mnt
